This was the most Monday-est, Tuesday ever.
Tuesdays are already the bane of my existence.
After school is filled with homework, dinner and that special kind of extracurricular activity hell.
This particular Tuesday while I was cooking dinner (WHYYYY is it always during dinner) all hell broke loose for our family.
As I close our utensil drawer, I hear the most horrible, ear shattering ‘sqreeeeech’ sound.
Of course my husbands head immediately peaks up from the dinning room table where he is helping our 7 year old with her spelling words.
If your husband is anything like mine… He cant let it go. “Must.be.fixed.NOW.”
So he proceeds to fix said drawer at the worst possible time.
While John worked on the drawer, he gradually spiraled, muttering half-curses under his breath and questioned his existence in life.
Nearby, I grew increasingly annoyed with John’s annoyance and the fact he was in my way while cooking dinner. But mostly because he was annoyed. ![]()
Because John, and just about every other man I know, a highly-capable, handy man, is not known for his patience when things do not work the way he wants them to.
“I think its the drawer track,” I noted helpfully, as john cursed under his breath yet again.
(Because when men are doing something, it helps to tell them they are doing it wrong.)
A small wisp of steam rose from john’s ears.
In my growing frustration, I hear the WORST sound of all.
My kids screaming at each other.
What they were fighting about… I couldn’t even tell you.
But as my annoyance reached peak anxiety, one of our new kittens decided to use our farm house table (made of wood from a hotel in the 1800’s) as his new scratching post.
If only I planned and prepared…
Is this what you are afraid of during your family session?
A hot mess, anxiety driven disaster… and the worst part… there will photographic proof.
Let me tell you right now… no matter how much you want those picture perfect, magazine cover portraits what you might get is a stressful experience, a cranky husband and kids who misbehave.
But my job?
Is to do everything in my power to close the gap between anxiety driven, hot mess and those picture perfect moments captured with your family.

And yes, part of that is 1) convincing your husband it wont be that bad and 2) provide lots of anxiety-reducing, snacks, drinks and entertainment for your kids.
But my promise to you is to help make this experience as stress-free as possible.

With help from figuring out how to ‘pose’ so your portraits look more candid and carefree to what to dress your whole family in…
And plan all the little details in between.
