Family Photography and Meaningful Locations Makes the best Family Photos

One of the most rewarding parts of family photos is getting to capture moments in places that hold a special significance for families.

Recently, I had the pleasure of photographing the Arnold family. They chose to have their session at Bald Head Island NC.

This location was so much more than a picturesque beach for them. It was where they had spent many summer vacations when their children were little.

Now, years later, they returned to celebrate Mom’s 50th birthday with a special family session that included their two adult children and their lovable labradoodle. And I have to say, you’d never guess Mom was celebrating 50—she barely looks a day over 40!

Choosing a meaningful location can add a unique layer to a family session.

The setting became another character in the family photos. It tells the narrative of the Arnold family’s story. The Arnold family didn’t just pose by the ocean; they revisited memories, laughed about shared experiences. And then, not only that but they created new memories together.

As we walked along the familiar beach, there was a warmth that comes from being in a place that feels like home, even after all these years.

It was a joy to see the Arnold kids, laughing with their parents and the family dog. Their bond as a family of four was beautifully evident. You could see the relationships they had formed over a lifetime of years.
