What is real beauty?

My family photography practice has a stand for something that I deeply care about – real beauty. You are used to the stick figure model. Real beauty is not getting dolled up in gobs of makeup and ridiculous hair.

I have struggled with, the women in my life, constantly criticizing the way they look and I know first hand the damage, the self-loathing, the “I need to lose 10 more pounds” talk that women experience well into their adulthood. I hear ALL.THE.TIME that woman only want photos of their kids. They don’t like the way they look. They are not photogenic.

Family photography for me is not just about taking snapshots, but an opportunity to give moms a chance to celebrate each other and their families. When I form a tight connection with my families, I am deeply inspired by the love and appreciation towards moms . Mom’s are rock stars to their children. There is nothing more then a child admires, then their mother.  I want you to love and appreciate yourself, the way your children do. When I get to know you, really get to know you,  I know what makes you feel beautiful. When you feel beautiful, you will cherish those photos with your children for 50 years. There is no amount of money on earth that can take the place of the feeling you get when you look at yourself with your children and feel beautiful.
