Generational Family Session
I recently photographed the beautiful Schroeder family at North Topsail Beach NC. Lindsey and Greg have been a part of LVP family for three or four years now (I believe, Im so bad with dates lol!). Lindsey joined my Mommy Photography Program before she had her second child. Then she contacted me this past spring letting me know that Gregs family will be in town this summer and they wanted to commemorate the occasion with a Generational Family Session at the beach.
I am always amazed when families have a good time, joke and play around in their family portraits sessions and this family did just that. It was so fun and touching to see aunt goof around with her nephew, for grandpa to snuggle his grand daughter and for son to play silly games with dads face.
The family wanted a beach session outside of the house they were renting for their vacation. We were so lucky with the weather, July was crazy with the amount of rain we had here in Wilmington NC and surrounding beaches. I was so afraid we were going to get horrible weather leading up to the day of their session. However, the rain stayed away. We just got these fun wispy clouds which made for a gorgeous background at sunset.
The best family portraits are when…
Many times moms and dads get frustrated during family session because their kids are well, being kids. (Goofing around, not listening and would rather be doing ANYTHING other than taking portraits). This was NOT the case for this sweet family. Isobel and Grant were sweet, kind and loving toward each other and mom and dad. Mom and Dad enjoyed being in their kiddos company. They played, goofed, held hands and cuddled their kids. When parents are relaxed and having fun… so are the kids and it makes for the best family portraits. <3
