Family beach portraits are such a special way to capture those little moments that mean the most, especially at a gorgeous spot like Oak Island. As an Oak Island NC family photographer, I’m all about making sure everyone, especially moms, feels comfortable and confident in front of the camera. There’s something about the beach that just puts everyone at ease—the soft, golden light, the sound of the waves, and the sand under your feet. It’s the perfect setting for those genuine smiles and real, candid moments.

But these beach portraits are more than just pictures; they’re memories you’ll hold onto forever. They’re a way to freeze time and remember the love, laughter, and togetherness that make your family so special. Oak Island offers such a beautiful backdrop, making these moments even more unforgettable. My goal as your Oak Island photographer is to create a fun, relaxed atmosphere where every mom feels amazing and confident, so your family portraits truly capture the unique bond you all share.

Jessica and Josh’s Family Session

I absolutely adore this family! Jessica is part of my Mommy Photography Program. So when we started to plan their family session, I could not be more thrilled. When Jessica and I sat down to plan their session, Jessica already knew she wanted it to be at the beach. They moved here a year ago from the mid-west and have dreamed and talked about living near the ocean forever. They finally made the jump last year. So they knew the beach would be the PERFECT location to capture this time in their lives.

I photographed their session in Oak Island NC by the Ocean Crest Pier. We were able to get a great variety of images with the pier and the ocean in the background. Jessica and Josh were a dream to work with. They were so focused on each other and their kids. This session wasn’t just about the family photos. It was about enjoying time with their kiddos. Ethan and Gabby were perfect at following my posing directions and smiling on cue. The last thing a kid on summer vacation wants to do! 😉

And of course, I had to capture one of mom and dad. Jessica and Josh are so unbelievably sweet with each other. It’s pretty amazing that after 15 years of marriage they can still look at each other like that. Its one of my favorite images from the whole session. This gorgeous family just enjoyed being together, as families should.
