Family Portraits
This is the second year in a row that Ive had the pleasure of photographing the Morris Family Session. Last fall, we met at Oak Island for family beach portraits at sunset. This year Liesel wanted something a bit different. She mentioned wanting something with a field or maybe trees behind them. Since fields are in short supply around here I made a few suggestions with trees including Greenfield Lake. Liesel decided that Greenfield Lake was a good idea and I couldn’t agree more with her. Its one of my favorite places to do family portraits. The light coming through the trees was stunning. The gardens and azalea bushes were still in full bloom.
We really got lucky with the weather.
The week of their session I had checked the weather almost everyday and was sure it was going to be a clear day. I woke up the morning of their session to pouring rain. So we rescheduled and I am so glad it worked out that way. The day of their session the weather was a perfect 70 degrees and sunny. It couldn’t have been any more perfect. As the sun descended and peeked through the trees, the Morris family walked along the path holding hands, snuggling with each other and making jokes. The littlest in the family, Ford was determined not to give me a real smile but his sister, Olivia and I were able to get a few from him and I made sure to snap as soon as I saw the little corners of his mouth curve up.
