Looking Your Best In Photos | Beauty

“How should I do my hair?”  We are asked/ ask this all. the. time. And it seems like for every occasion, too. You’re hyper aware of every root showing, fly-away, and awkward strand in your face when you look at photos, so I understand that pressure to make your hair perfect.

Whether your hair is long and luscious or short and sweet, curls will most likely be your way to go. Because loose, wavy curls are timeless, you won’t find yourself saying “What was I THINKING?” in a few years (#1980sPromQueen). With loose and unstructured curls, fly-aways aren’t as noticeable, and your hair’s natural and/or colored highlights will capture the light beautifully.

“But my hair never holds!” – Well, practically no one’s does, so you’re not alone. Also, the looser the curl, the more romantic the photo. You don’t want every single curl to look identical, so it’s fine if some fall and others keep their shape.

Pro-tip for keeping the curl longer: Keep the curls tight and pin them to your head until the last minute. Your hair will naturally fall by the time you get to your photo location, but not so much so that it’s straight again.

You want to feel comfortable though, so if you really don’t like the way you look with curled hair, then there’s absolutely no pressure to curl it. And if you’re brave enough to curl on your own, definitely test out your hair before your photo session.

There are many ways to curl your hair. A fabulously easy way, which you wouldn’t think would be easy is using a flat iron. My favorite flat iron is the CHI Titanium 1-Inch Flat Iron for Hair Straightening, Curling and Waving. A Curling wand is of course the more traditional way to curl your hair. At the bottom of the post are some awesome tutorials to help you achieve the perfect curl for any length.

OK, Here it is the boring legal mumbo, jumbo… If you click any of the amazon links on this page and make a purchase, I will receive a % of that purchase.
