Lannin’s Mommy and Me Session

Lannin and her sweet three year old daughter Emilia joined me at the New Hanover Arboretum for their Mommy and Me session last weekend. The Mommy and Me sessions were scheduled for the last weekend in April but Mother Nature had other plans. However it worked out perfectly because the weather was gorgeous that day.

Emilia took a second to warm up to me and the camera but after some persuasion and a few different locations around the Arboretum we were able to grab some really sweet images of Lannin and Emilia. Lannin is a loving and patient mama. She snuggled with Emmy when she was feeling a little afraid of the camera, gave her hugs and kisses and at the end had a mini dance party with her.

Mommy Photography Program

These sweet moments between a mother and child is exactly why I created the Mommy Photography Program. Women put a lot of pressure on themselves to look a certain way in portraits. They are often worried about double chins, thick thighs or what their hair looks like. I encourage the women in my program to look past all the things they might not like in their portraits. I encourage them to see what their portraits are really about, the beauty of motherhood.

The snuggles and quality time we spend with our children are really the moments that matter. It’s what shapes them into the adults they will become and what they will remember from their childhood.
