As a family photographer, I hear (all the time) “Wow! Your camera takes really nice photos!” However, the camera is not what determines what a photograph will look like…. the photographer does. You don’t need a $3000. camera to take a good photo. You do, however, need to know and utilize the rules of photography. The word, photography means drawing with light. So, in order to have a beautiful photo, you need beautiful light! You can check out my post of natural light and window light here. To make sure you have enough light, open the blinds or move your child by a window. An even better idea would be to take your little ones outside. Low light situations will cause camera shake and blurry photos. (Camera shake is blur that shows up in a photo due to shaking the camera while taking a photo.) So, if its too dark in your house, outside is the obvious and best choice! It doesn’t have to be anywhere special. All the photos you are seeing in this post I took in 30 minutes, outside of my house with my iPhone.
