If the thought of stepping in front of a camera fills you with dread…
trust me—you’re in good company.
If your Feeling Self-Conscious in Front of the Camera and worried about how you look or act during a photo session is something I hear from so many moms. As a family photographer specializing in body positivity, my mission is to help you overcome those worries and walk away with photos you’re proud of.
Take the Wright’s family session, for example. With three sets of families, grandparents, and a full-group photo, it was a big production!
It’s easy to feel overwhelmed or worry about how you’ll look when you’re part of a large group, but this family—and especially the moms—embraced the experience.
One of the things I hear the most from moms, “I’m usually the one behind the camera because I don’t like how I look in photos.” Sound familiar?
Whether it’s a perceived flaw, a bad photo from the past, or just the chaos of family life, it’s so easy to let self-doubt creep in.
Here’s the truth:
Your family sees you through a completely different lens. They see the love, the sacrifices, and the countless ways you make their lives brighter.
My job is to capture that version of you—the one your family treasures.
During the Wright’s family session, I focused on creating a relaxed environment. For the moms, this meant stepping back from the “to-do” mindset and just being present. This is not always easy for us moms.
When we got to the full-group photo, everyone laughed as we wrangled the youngest kids to look at the camera. There was no “perfect” pose, but the resulting image was full of joy and connection—and isn’t that what family is all about?
So if you’re feeling self-conscious, know this: You don’t have to look perfect to create beautiful memories.
