As a parent, it comes naturally for you to be obsessed with your kids. The affection ranges from playing with them and cooking their favourite meals to watching them closely as they sleep and taking photographs of literally anything they do. But as time passes, you may look at those sweet portraits, noticing something missing from the picture – you!
I always discuss the importance of creating visual heirlooms to show you as a family. So, let me take you on my recent Downtown family portraits journey and inspire you to book a lovely experience like this for your family, as well!
Downtown Wilmington NC Family Portraits
For this session, the Batts family and I headed to Downtown Wilmington NC. It’s safe to say this is one of my favourite locations to photograph! I like that the place offers a variety of alleyways and different backgrounds, offering so many opportunities for unique family portraits.
It was a pleasure to work with the Batts! I simply loved capturing their smiling faces, and it seems that their three gorgeous children- the two older sisters, Lila and Charlotte, and their little son Hilton, all enjoyed posing in front of my camera.
The mom, Brooke, signed up for my Photography Program a while ago. I really appreciate that she and her husband, Stephen, haven’t missed a single session so far, including these Downtown family portraits. The goal of this year-long program is to encourage busy moms to accept and respect their bodies and not miss any chance to be in their family session.
It’s a pity that not many women appreciate all the features that mark their mom’s role; the double chin, saggy bellies, or the undereye bags that result from the many sleepless nights. In my opinion, these are all but things that make you valuable, a sign that you’re doing everything in your power to care for your little ones.
It truly made me happy to see how Brooke embraced my program and ensured she was present in every one of the Downtown family portraits I made that day. So, use her as an inspiration and check out a couple of my other sessions from this program on my blog, below.
