Senior Model Program

My photography business practice has a stand for something I care deeply about – women seeing their real beauty. I’m not talking about the stick figure, make up covered, photoshopped models you see in every ad on this earth. I am talking about so called “flaws”. At a young age, women are trained to see their “flaws”. For example, “My nose is a weird shape. I hate my thick thighs.” And by far, the one I hate the most, “I am fat.”

There are so many factors that can cause young women to talk to themselves this way. That is why I have created my Senior Model Program. This program is designed for girls in their last year of high school. The year long program offers a huge selection of sessions and events that the girls can attend.

One of my favorites is definitely, the Bathing Suit session. This session is designed to help girls see how beautiful they are. There is nothing easy about being photographed in your bathing suit. This session helps them see, that no matter their size, how thick their thighs are or how much they hate something on their body, they are beautiful in every way. The bathing suit session allows them to continue to build a positive outlook on their self-esteem, not just how they look in a bathing suit but by showing up and feeling confident. When they have a positive self esteem and show their confidence then they show up in a new and positive way in every aspect of their lives.

Addie’s Bathing Suit Session

At Addie’s first session for the Senior Model Program she was a little more quiet and reserved. The Bathing Suits session was our second session of the year and you could tell right away that she felt more comfortable with me.  For her session, she brought along her sweet, little pup, Obi. So we started under the pier, we grabbed a couple of photos with Obi but he was not a fan of the waves hitting his butt. Haha! So I photographed Addie by herself under the pier and down by the water. She’s a natural and seemed so at home on the beach and in the water. After we were finished by the water, we made our way to the dunes and grabbed a few more images with Obi. He seemed much happier out of the water. We finished Addie’s session in the water just as the last bit of the sun vanished from the horizon.
