Senior Photographer: Lauren’s Senior Session
The collaboration between seniors and a senior photographer goes way beyond simply posing in front of the camera and taking photos. When a senior decides they want to go through a series of sessions, we begin the process of planning. It is an important part of the whole experience, requiring a lot of thought. That being said, I always strive to get the best out of the photo sessions, so I work closely with the girls until we reach a decision that suits everyone.
One of the biggest dilemmas comes when we need to establish a location. There are so many wonderful places, so picking the right one can become quite overwhelming! However, as a senior photographer, one of my responsibilities is to help the girls from my program choose a place that reflects their personalities. To serve my purpose, I use the following questions to ease the decision-making process.

What kind of vibe do you want? Coastal, garden, urban?
For her session, Lauren chose Downtown Wilmington NC. She is into natural surroundings, so the environment matched her perfectly. I took some relaxed photos of her in the fields at sunset, and the end result was simply amazing!
Lauren’s adventure continued at the beach since she was into the coastal vibe as well. Her photographs turned out brilliant because the area goes with her. As her Wrightsville Beach NC photographer, I enjoyed the session tremendously. She found her ideal place, and I got to snap some fascinating angles!

Have a place that’s meaningful?
When choosing a location, consider a place that is meaningful to you. Trust me, it will be very helpful! It can be anything – a spot where you hang out with friends or maybe a place you enjoyed as a child. But why is this so important? Well, choosing a meaningful place means having the chance to get more natural photos. That is why Lauren’s photographs are so amazing!

Do you have extracurricular activities, sports or hobbies?
Posing in places where you feel comfortable and happy can give you extraordinary results. Lauren is a cheerleader, so she put on her uniform, and we went on a football field. Her photographs depict candid joy because she is at a place she loves and capturing a moment that was a huge part of her high school career.
One of my senior photographer roles is to get the best out of young women, and your chosen site plays a major role here. Therefore, I strive to help girls find a place where they feel comfortable and cosy. The outcome is breathtaking, so take your time before you decide on the spot of your photo session.
