Friday was the 2nd annual Coastal Duck Derby to benefit a local youth shelter, Coastal Horizons. Unfortunately, it rained on Friday, so it was not as big a turn out as the 1st Coastal Duck Derby. Despite the horrible weather, many came out to join in the fun and festivities. Many local business donated prizes. Including First Bank, Carolina Farmin’, Homewood Suites by Hilton Wilmington/Mayfaire, Jungle Rapids Family Fun Park and many more!!
This event was a first for me and I can’t not wait until next year! They had games, such as corn hole and giant jenga, food donated by Farmin’ on Front and Jungle Rapids and of course, the main event… the duck derby! 11,000 ducks raced down the water slide and around the lazy river. It’s quite a sight! The first prize winner won $1,000. donated by First Bank in Wilmington NC. And the amazing winners have already re-donated it back to Coastal Horizons! What a great event! Stay tuned for next years date for the 3rd annual Coastal Duck Derby!!
